Tiny Tower game for iPhone and iPad

Very fun game in the likes of Farmville, We Rule, etc. From the makers of Pocket Frogs, Nimblebit. Amazing pixel art. Seems like Nimblebit really upped the game with this offering. I've played this for a few hours and the gameplay is pretty solid. You level up by literally making new levels on a tower. You can assign each floor to be commercial or residential, and you assign each person who moves in a job. You earn money from their rent and the commercial activities. Like most free to play games of this genre, there is an option to purchase "Tower Bucks" to advance faster. Highly recommended!

Skype for iPad. Finally.

One of the reasons why my parents wanted the iPad 2 was because they could use Skype on it. But for a long time, we had to use the iPhone version, which was clunky and ugly. Looks like Skype is going to launch its software for the iPad 2 really soon!

PS: The reason why the video above has no sound is because, according to razorianfly.com, Skype put up this video, but then later set it to private. Someone screen captured it down, but without sound.

Coin Drop for iPhone/iPad free for now!

Photo

If you're a fan of the coin push game genre, you'll like this. It's just like Coin Push Frenzy mixed with Pachinko, except there is an actual goal. You have drop the coin so that it captures the bandits and gets all sorts of bonuses. I can only hope this will stop my parents' addiction to Coin Push Frenzy. Available for iPhone and iPad, although when playing, the iPad version doesn't cover the entire screen.

Available here.

Bamboo Paper iPad App by Wacom is free for now

Photo

If you've been holding off for a nice drawing app to pen your ideas down, or maybe you've decided that the Penultimate was just too costly, now you have Bamboo Paper from Wacom. It's a free app to promote Wacom's capacitive stylus, which actually isn't very much different from the hoards of capacitive styli out there. The pen input is very similar to Penultimate. The slower your stroke, the thicker the line and vice versa. You even have a choice of 3 different papers as your background. Free till July. Download here.

Straits Times to launch subscription services on iOS?

While watching yesterday's keynote at WWDC I noticed a little piece of information that might be of interest to Singaporeans. When Scott Forstall was talking about magazine and newspaper subscriptions he brought up an image full of logos of companies that have signed up with Apple to provide subscription services.

Love it or hate it, it looks like we might be getting the full version of the Straits Times pumped into our iPads soon.
